Roger L. Best, 79 Rockford - Roger L. Best, 79, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, in his home surrounded by his family and is now reunited with his loving wife, Margaret. Born July 25, 1933, in Mystic, Iowa; the son of Everett and Elsie (Stark) Best. Roger married Margaret Ognibene in Rockford on August 5, 1961, she passed away in 1978. He was employed at Elco Industries for 42 years, retiring as a supervisor in the packaging department. Roger attended Central Christian Church. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Eagles Aerie 392. Roger was a season ticket holder for the Rockford Lighting Basketball team for 25 years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He loved to watch his grandsons play baseball and basketball. Roger had a heart of gold and loved his family. We will never find a man as kind and gentle as Roger. Survived by his son. Roger (Mona) Best of Rockford; daughter, Lori(Mike) Morehead of Winnebago; grandsons, Jeremy and Ryan Morehead; brother, Donald; and his special friends, Sid, Bill, Annie, Joyce, Geri, Don and Ruth. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Margaret; and brother, Richard. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with the Reverend Dean Parker officiating, Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
